FAQs

How does it work?

EXHACK is a three day event of learning, free pizza and launching an idea. On Friday, everyone meets in the evening for people with ideas but no team to pitch them and find likeminded people to make their idea a reality. Day 2 is a jam-packed day of hacking, mentoring and workshops by some of the brightest sparks in industry. Finally on Day 3, teams pitch their idea to a panel of esteemed judges with top prizes on offer.

What skills do I need?

We are looking for hackers with three key skills: Tech, Business and Design & Branding. You don't need to be a wiz-kid, but some experience in one of these sectors will take you far.

Who can apply?

If you're over 18 and a student you're set. For the first year ever, we are welcoming students the world over. So get applying!

Is it free?

100%! Thanks to our incredible group of dedicated sponsors, everything at EXHACK is free.

Is it an overnight thing?

We have partnered with Exeter University to ensure everyone can stay over night if you wish. This is not essential though and many hackers choose not too due to the length of the event. For hackers from outside of Exeter, we are excited to partner with Vita Student Housing to provide amazing FREE accommodation (pending final agreement) - contact us for more info.

Do you cover travel?

Sadly we cannot cover travel costs for students travelling to Exeter.

Do I need to bring food?

Nope! We have a range of fresh, tasty local food and will try to accommodate dietary requirements where possible.

Where is it?

We are based in Devonshire House (the area around Pieminister), in Exeter University's Forum.

What should I bring?

We recommend a laptop, otherwise we've got you covered :)

How are the teams made up?

You are welcome to build your own team as you see fit, but we recommend a 5 person team with 2 tech specialists, 2 business specialists and 1 branding specialist.

Which ideas are accepted?

We accept everything! Though we strongly recommend you to think of ideas that are feasible and that a prototype can be build during the event.
